<lj:music>Brules' Rules</lj:music>

So right now I'm in the library. I was bummed that the only Mac stations that were available were frozen or had crappy headphones. I picked this Windows station because the headphones were really cushy, but the audio quality if only like normal headphones with a bit of noise canceling. As always, Pandora is on (Ratatat radio). I had class at 9am (Euro) and we watched this crazy video from the 50s about how to protect yourself against nuclear bombs; in the event of a nuclear explosion, just duck and cover! Don't worry about the melting clothes sticking to your skin, if you're under a desk or a door frame, you'll be A-okay!

I was a bit annoyed that my 9am didnt even run the whole time. Yes it was nice to get out earlier, but I'm kind of annoyed that I had to get out of bed to go to a class that was half a movie and didn't even run the whole (ready for this?) 50 minutes. The class is MWF, and that is why its only 50 minutes; this is opposed to a two a week class that meets for 1hr 15min.

Last night was a bit of a disappointement. I figured since it was the first Thursday back from break and the last one before people need to start cramming for exams, it would be wild. My dad was working in NY and took the ferry to New London to drive back to RI (because it was goregous out! Around 65 degrees and sunny). So he stopped by and took me, Jack, Clint and Matt to Target. When we got to the game aisle, Jack grabbed this bouncy ball and slammed it against the ground. Ha ha of course it then shot immediately at the ceiling- the ceiling tile that contained the security camera. Upon hearing the crash, he ran away (like a pansy) and a Target employee was like, "Um... are you serious? where did the ball go?" Of course, during all of this, Jack was nowhere to be seen. Jack got so much junk food and I got some essentials. For some cruel reason I ran out of toothpaste AND shaving cream the same day. We all took the CamelVan back (which is so unreliable, btw) and I went back to my dorm to drop all my stuff off.

I skipped dinner, did a little pregaming with some organics with a few girls in my dorm and then headed over to the Plex to meet up with everyone. I had skipped dinner, which was a bad idea. The thing about the Plex, is that it's a trap. In the middle is the main dinning hall, Harris, which is open from 7am to 730pm. There are 4 or 5 dorms that extend off of it. I could spend the day in the Plex and not even have to go outside. Once I got to Jack and Peter's room we played drink and drive Mario Kart. You have two drinks and you have to finish them before the race, but you can't be drinking and driving at the same time- only one or the other. It was pretty fun. After that we did some other activities that required opening the windows and then everyone except for Jack and I went to our friend's party- Lily Gaga (it was Lady Gaga themed? I don't want to know).

Jack and I were pretty mellow and we watched House. I fell asleep and then at like 1230, Peter came back. He tried to kick Jack and I out, even though we were basically sleeping. Peter is starting to quasi-date this girl Tess. It's weird though- whenever she's over, she never hangs out with us as the group, but she and Peter cloister themselves in the room. Which is ok, but one time they were in there for 5 hours and Jack and I couldn't even come in. Last night was kind of duechy too- like we were going to bed and he kicked us out until 130am. Jack and I occupy the room a lot, but we have never kicked Peter out. If he is in there first we are never like "Oh... you should probably find somewhere else to be." What the hell, right? And even when Jack and I are there first, we stop and let him in if he needs to get stuff. Or if we aren't "doing" something we let him in and we all chill. Basically I feel Peter was being a bit rude. It's like he thinks he's entitled to kick us out. And then when we were kind of arguing, well when Jack and him were arguing, Peter was like, "why can't you go to your (my) room?" But Ayano doesn't feel comfortable having Jack sleep over (which is stupid) and Jack and I were in sleep-mode! Did he expect us to change out of our pajamas, get dressed, walk all the way over to my dorm and then expect Jack to walk all the way back to a room that still might be occupied? Let's think about this. Oh well, it's not like a huge deal. Peter is a friend of mine, one of group. But still- kind of deuchy.

Haha I just remembered why I came into the library in the first place- to write and English paper. I need to remember to do that after this! The papers are due at 6pm; last time, I forgot to do it and then at 430 I was like OH SHIT I HAVE A PAPER TO WRITE. Banged that baby out like it was my JOB. Bay View taught me well.

Anyways, I have, along with everyone else in Morrisson, beccome obsessed with Tim and Eric's Awesome Show, Great Job! Clint knew about it and he bought the first 3 seasons on DVD. Let me tell you- it is the best thing to watch when you are a bit out of it. Even sober, this shit is bananas (B a n a n a s). Wikipedia says "The program features surreal and often uncomfortable humor, public access-style musical acts, bizarre faux-commercials, as well as fast paced, highly computerized graphics and editing." This is the intro:

<lj-embed id="18" />
Literally the best thing on televison- it airs on Adult Swim. John C. Reilly plays Dr. Steve Brule and does PSAs, For your Health! So funny.

<lj-embed id="19" />
Anyways, my favorite episode is probably the Brownie episode. If you want to know what I'm talking about, Youtube "Brownie mountain time and eric."

Cheers!

Writer's Block: My Daily Internet Routing

What's your daily internet "routine"?

Sponsored by Yahoo!

View 423 Answers

It depends. If I'm in the library and on a computer, I go first to Pandora.
I like to start my computer adventure with the high definition, cushy, noise blocking headphones each computer is equiped with. Right now, Fireflies by Owl City is sounding mighty fine, mighty fine indeed.

Then, I check Facebook. It would be fair to say that I'm a FB addict- let's be real here. However, I distinguish myself from people, i.e. annoying Bay view girls, who update their status every other minute with song lyrics or statuses that are typed using mixed media (numbers, symbols, upper and lower case letters- all annoying).

Next, I check my ConnColl email. The email front page, where one would log in, is so adorable and welcoming, Enclosed in a white box on a blue page are the log-on fields, you know, username/password, and on the side is the bust of a noble camel, eyeing you with pride. Its stunning.

From there, its up to whatever I need to do: research, LJ, dick around, etc.

ANYWAYS, life is good.

And I didn't choose to divine a response to the writer's block question because I have writer's block (how ametuer). I read it and realized that I do have an internet routine- it's like this thing that Mr. Parisi told our English class sophomore year. He read one of his daily prayer stories; it was about routine. And then he did his usual "I'm going to explain to you girls the human condition through various generalizations that will probably offend you, especially if you have any sense of an identity as a woman in today's fast-paced world," and posed a question to us. It was something like, don't you guys have certain routines for everything? And it feels weird to break them, am I right? Then he was taking about getting out of the shower, like, "Don't you girls have a specific routine when you get out of the shower? Like you wipe down one leg, either left or right, and then the other one?"

Looking back on this, two things:

1. it's true: I do have a routine for a bunch of things, getting out of the shower included. (I wipe down my left legt, right, torso, shoulders/arms, hair, repeat)

2. Mr. Parisi was thinking about us getting out of the shower. He wanted to know the specifics of our "routine" (aka what we do after gingerly stepping out of a steamy shower, as dripping water clings to our curves and eventually drips onto the floor with a carnally satisfying splash). I mean, I liked the guy- he was pretty cool. I didn't hate him, like a lot of people do (although that could be because they took his AP class and felt a terrible sense of impending doom near exam time because all of the fun little "creative projects" didn't do jack shit to prepare you for the exam). But on the other hand, I wasn't one of those people who LOVED him and gave him copies of school/dance pictures for him to add to the collage he has all over his desk and cabinet. But really? Really. Mr. Parisi, you fox. Very smart.

What a tangent, what a tangent! I wonder how many of you dears will even read this; I can imagine that the moderate length could be a turn off. But those of you who gave this entry a chance, kudos.

I did intend to write an actual entry about mi vida, but the posed question about routines made me ponder.

So last night, the general party night of the week besides Saturday, nothing really went down. Definitely a quiet night.

Registration for Spring 2010 classes was this morning. My schedule is, on MW, Latin American and Caribbean History and Stars, Galaxies and Cosomology. Tuesday Thursdays is US History and the Language of Music (to fulfill a create arts requirement). I really wanted to take a class called The Vikings, taught by my current Euro professor. I didn't manage to get in, so I signed up for US instead. I emailed the guy though, and I think he'll let me in. But I was a bit mad at him today because I had to leave the warmth of my man's bed to go to that calss and it turned out to be cancelled. He was like "its raining and shit so my throat hurts." No class.

Well, I g2g but I'll continue this later. Bye!

<lj:music>Long Time Gone - Crosby, Stills and Nash</lj:music>

Hello everyone!

Haven't posted in a while, like a real post. I know earlier I was going bezerck trying to find that deviantart flash thingy (which I succeeded in doing, btw). And you guys are pretty much slackers. Sure it's almost ten o'clock on a Friday night, and maybe it's true that all I'm doing on such a Friday night is coming down and sitting in Clint's room with Jack, watching him play video games. And perhaps I'm very lazy today; well darnit! That's the American dream (am I right????).

Things with Jack and I are absol-lutely fantastic. This is definitely the best relationship I have been in. He's amazing. I feel really happy with my social circle here too- for a while I was feeling a bit bummed that I was clearly lacking a female close friend. BUT that's covered. MY friend group from my dorm is in the middle of fusing together with Jack and my friend's in Morrison (where I am now).

My friend Clint is in the male accapella group on campus, Co Co Beux. He plays the piano too, but I've never really heard him sing that much. Turns out that he has over 200 self-recorded songs on his iTunes. I was listening to them earlier- really great. One of the songs, All We Need, is really precious. Apparantly, as Jack informed me, he doesn't really like it when people listen to his music. This is understandable, so don't tell him! <strike>(Wow that joke was so lame).</strike>

We were supposed to go see Clooney's new movie, Men Who Stare at Goats, but that fell through. I think the fact that Jack and I retired at 6pm and are only resurfacing now is definitely a contributing factor.

Anyways, I'm going to start getting social.

Long story short, I'm pretty sick.

I've had a sore throat for the past like 5 days, bust starting yesterday, I developed a cough. Today, I feel like I'm dead. I woke up this morning (next to the ever adorable Jack Santoro bt dub's) and I had a class at 1025. I didn't sleep well at all that night, waking up every hour. Gross. So I called the health center and told them my symptoms and they were like (bc my school is so crasy vigilant about health issues) WHOA WHOA WHOA YOU NEED TO GET DOWN HERE RIGHT AWAY! AVOID CONTACT WITH OTHERS, DON'T GO TO CLASS TODAY. Not going to class was nice though.

So I emailed my 1025, 115 and 245 professors. Professor Gordon (aka Mrs. Williams) got back to me fairly quickly, no issues. My seminar teacher, Professor Huang didn't get back to me- no surprise there. What I was really nervous was about hearing from my Gov professor, Professor Borelli. I had an exam today, worth 20% of my grade.

Basically I went to my room, walking from the Health Center to my room with a cough mask on. People gave me weird looks. I don't blame them. Not only did I look like a swine flu victim, but I clearly was doing some sort of the walk of shame, even though no shame was involved. Ayano was surprisingly super duper nice (and even gave me a gram!). <strike>I should get sick more often.</strike> Jack has been great, basically insisting to keep me company. He must have an amazing immune system, he hasn't felt sick all week! Anyways, I went to be at 4 and basically just woke up. Jack had slipped into my room at some point and brought me some Ramen, since I'm out. How cute is that?

Professor Borrelli emailed me back and was the sweetest thing. She was like "I would never ever make you take that exam under those circumstances. we'll talk NEXT WEEK (next week). Good stuff.

After I woke up, I choked down more meds and now I'm writing this. Hopefully you guys are doing well and I feel better!

So the majority of my more recent entries have just been about posting shit, but I feel like its time for a real entry.

College is suiting me very well- I actually just got back my first legit paper and got an A-, which I'm really happy about bc the topic was soo rediculous and had nothing to do with Euro (AIDs. leik, really? AIDs?)

The party scene is pretty sweet too.

Last weekend, aka last saturday night, my friend Ben invited me to party with him and his friends in Larabee (his dorm name). We played a game called "drink and drive." You play Mario Kart (we were on the ever classic N64) and you have two drinks (i.e. beer). The object is to finish both of your drinks and win the race. However, you cant be driving while your'e drinking. Strategies include chugging the first one, racing, and at the finish, chugging the last one. I did terribly.... We played the level where it is like on a highway, but we changed the settings so that the cars were going TORWARDS us. Fun times.

After that, we went across the street to the Ridge Apartments, which are off campus, where there was a basement party. There was legit atleast a centimeter of booze on the ground that everyone was sloshing through. Classy shit. And then somehow I ended back in Larabee with a shit load of people and just up and decided to go to sleep on their futon. So I did. I woke up the next morning with a note on my face saying:

Dear Paige,
You slept here on your own accord.
We aren't lax bros.
We <3 you
- Room 201

So at least I wasnt raped haha. It was a good time. Then we decided that we were going to go to a diner, googled diners in CT and found Norm's Diner. It had rave reviews (i.e. This is the type of place where the waitress can ignore you, slam down your coffee and still be calling you "sweetie" by the end of the meal. This no-frills diner is a staple among locals and is open 24/7. The place reeks of authenticity, from the faded teal walls and arched, stained linoleum ceiling to the hashbrowns sulking on the grill, looking like they have been patiently waiting there since 1997.) yet its cleanliness was "questionable." I couldnt eat anything without throwing up, but the food looked good.

It was a good time.

I'm also running for 2013 class President, so I'll keep you posted. My friend Clint made me a great poster, using my face and screen caps from this porno that was sent to him by the 2009-2010 Porn Commissioner from his male acapella group, Co Co Beaux.

This is all to come when I'm not in the library....

Miss and love all of you! And hey, post every now and then you slackers!

So last night was reallllly fun!

I finally felt like there was some Plant (my dorm) bonding. Plant is, traditionally, a smaller, homier, family like dorm. This is something I'm sure I'll learn to appreciate, even though I've been feeling the family vibes. Even though there is a quad on my floor of uper annnnoying girls (minues Cordelia bc she's awesome and steals fruit from Harris dining hall) who are clearly trying to relive high school. Basically, they weren't the popular bitches in their school, but now they know their mistakes. They are now using the opportunity of a clean state to bust in and be the popular girl, snag the partying guys, etc.

(OK im back, like 2 days later)

Um now I have nothing to say.......

um ok. have some adorable fan art!

Arthur with bunnies!

    <lj:music>The Saltwater Room - Owl City</lj:music>
So I finally moved into college!!!!

So I left my house at 830 (supposed to be there by 9) and I got there at 908. Kind of sad that I can get from my house to school in 38 minutes- aka Bay View ride with bad traffic *sigh*

I snagged the bed by the windw bc I got there first. The bed is by the window, the three windows, and it was super lofted. This was a good thing bc I put a lot of stuff in storage bins underneath the bed. The light in my room doesnt work though. It turns on but just flickers infinitely- sooo annoying. Ayano (my roomie) and I get along reeeally well, which is relieving.

My dad kept joking that he was going to just live in the dorm for a few days... hes taking it hard. Poor dear.

We met this guy named Andrew who was really nice. He's on the 1st floor. He let us climb through is window ahah. Good stuff. We're trying to find ut if he's gay or not. Hes big into theater but also baseball. I'll keep you lovies posted. ANYWAYS, here are some crappy low res pics of ym room!

This is from the corner of my bed, straight ahead is my desk and then on the left, Ayano's desk.

That's Ayano, my roommate.
So I finally mustered up the courage to call my roommate today. Her dad answered the phone and we spoke. This is what I gathered:

- Her mom is Japanese and Michelle likes to go by her Japanese name, Ayano
- Ayano's been in Tokyo for the past month and is flying back today (arriving at 5 pm)
- She is majoring in modern dance
- Her dad is Jewish
- She likes Jimi Hendrix, Dave Matthews Band, Barack Obama, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Basically, I'm souped.

I gave her dad my cell number so if she didn't immediately pass out after the 24 hour flight, she had the option to call/text.

Who's excited? I'm EXCITED.

So I got my housing assignment yesterday. I'm living in Plant house, which is on the quad and has a greenhouse attatched to it. I'm on the second floor, room 206, in a double. My roommate's name is Michelle and she's from New Jersey.

Only problem is that I can't find her on Facebook and she hasn't emailed me back.

This is a bad sign.

Conn gave me her number... at what point do I call?

    <lj:music>Dixie Chicken - Little Feat</lj:music>

After waking up from my slumber <strike>on our cum covered couch</strike>, my family and I went to my uncle Greg's house to swim and stuff before the party. My other cousins came in a bit later, Katie with her new Australian boyfriend in tow. My dad was like "I thought you were going to be an aboriginee (sp?)." And then I learned that in Australia, calling someone an aboriginee is like calling a black person a nigger. Afterwards, I went back to the hotel with my aunt Di and my cousins Mimi and Jessie and my mom followed with Julia and Lauren. When we got to the hotel, I was like, "I'll go shower with Jessie in our bathing suits to save time so I dont have to wait for Lauren AND Julia." My mom flipped out and was like youre coming in OUR room, and when i showed her it made more sense to shower in my cousins room she was like "fine, just get the fuck out of here then."

So that went well. After I came back to my room, my mom was like YOURE ALL ASSHOLES and I was like, name one time I was an asshole. She was like YOURE ALL SUCH BRATS TO ME. Its like, OK mom. If yelling at me takes off the edge, go ahead.

After that, we all were at my uncle's house and there was this beautiful tent set up with paper lanterns and lots and lots of tea candles :)

My uncle John and a family friend were playing badmintton againt Mimi and I and it was really funny bc (even tho it was like 530) they were pretty tipsy.

John and Greg rewrote the lyrics of the Brady Bunch to the McClatchy Bunch. It was hilarious.

My uncle David got realllllly drunk too. He got ribs all over his shirt and then, once it was just him, mimi, mom, and i at the table, goes to my mom "Let's go fornafuck (fornicate + fuck = fornafuck?)" and my mom was like what?? And he was like, yeah, its called fornafuck. He then proceeded to get up and walk over to the pool area, managed to trip on the steps to the patio, fell between the patio and the fence, and knocked over a huge planter with a shrub in it. THEN he stood up, walked over to the pool, took off ALL HIS CLOTHES, and put on his swimsuit in front of the whole family. He jumped into the pool and pretended he was a shark for 40 minutes. When he got out, he grabbed a slice of cake, lol He didn't have utensils, so he used the base of his wine glass as like a shovel. Keep in mind this is the uncle who always calls Myles "Max" (the name of my dog).

It just went downhill from there. Pretty much EVERYONE, minus anyone under the age of 16, were plastered. We had three generations of McClatchy's in the hottub being rowdy and signing Neil Diamond.

All in all, it was a very entertaining trip. I'll put up pictures sometime soon.

Ugh im so friggin mad at my sister Lauren right now.

First of all, after her 420 regatta, I had to unload her WHOLE boat bc she was sleeping and my mom wouldn't let me wake her up. It's her boat! Her shit!

Second, I had to go across town to pick her up from her friend's house at like 930. I waited in the drive way for TEN ACTUAL MINUTES and she came into the car soaking wet from being in the pool. She then proceeded to not thank me, change my radio station, and complain that i picked her up too earlly.

Lastly, she was in the shower and was SCREAMING for me to get her conditioner. I was like there's conditioner in there, just take the top off the bottle and hit it with your hand. She was like THERES NONE IN THERE, and then my MOM started yelling at me. After like 15 minutes, I just flipped and ran into the bathroom, grabbed the bottle and hit it on my palm and got like 4 shots wiorth of conditioner, and I wiped it in her hair. Like wtf?????? THERE WAS SHIT IN THERE. I nwas like STOP BEING SUCK A FUCKING PRINCESS and she was like gawwwd paige get over yourself. Are yuou serious?! ME, get over MYSELF? Lauren, you are such an imbycil who can't even shower without people waiting on yuou.

Jesus Christ.
